How We Measure AION 2 Steam Stats

This site reports AION 2 activity on Steam. We distinguish sourced launch records from our own observations, and attach capture times to changing figures. All displayed times use UTC.

Data sources

Current concurrent players
Steam’s GetNumberOfCurrentPlayers endpoint, using app ID 3393110. It reports players currently active in the application on Steam. View the source response.
Launch-day record
SteamDB’s published record of 397,905 concurrent players on October 5, 2026. This is an external launch-day record, not a peak independently observed by our collector. We do not label it a permanent all-time high.
Release timeline
The NC release announcement and official Steam page. Advanced Access began on September 30, 2026; the full release opened on October 5 at 13:00 UTC. Access conditions differed between these phases.
Reviews
Steam’s review service. The summary has its own capture time and uses the filters listed below.

Historical facts were checked for this site on October 12, 2026. We do not automatically scrape SteamDB; its FAQ explains automated-access restrictions.

Metric definitions

Current snapshot
One successful current-player response at a recorded time. It is neither a daily total nor a daily peak.
Sampled peak
The highest stored count within a stated time window. It can miss activity between observations.
Highest observed since tracking began
The highest observation collected by this site. It is not automatically the game’s all-time high.
Average concurrency
An average over a clearly stated window with adequate sampling coverage. Missing periods remain missing; they are never treated as zero. We do not currently publish an average.
Positive review percentage
Positive reviews divided by the total reviews included by our filters, multiplied by 100 and rounded to one decimal place.

Review filters and calculation

The review summary includes all languages and all purchase sources, with Steam’s off-topic activity filter applied. It is a cumulative snapshot at capture time, rather than launch-day reviews.

language=allpurchase_type=allfilter_offtopic_activity=1

The positive and negative counts come from the same response. Their sum is the counted review total. A Steam page with a different language, purchase filter or capture time can show a different result.

Positive percentage = positive reviews ÷ counted total × 100

Submitted reviews summarize reviewers’ opinions; they are not a survey of every player.

Freshness and missing data

Current-player collection is scheduled every 5 minutes; review collection is scheduled every 30 minutes. Visitor requests read saved observations. They do not trigger a Steam data request.

  • Player snapshots older than 15 minutes are marked Update delayed.
  • Review snapshots older than 2 hours receive their own delayed status.
  • A failed request retains the last successful value and its original capture time.
  • Until a successful response is available, the figure is Unavailable, not zero.

Page response time is never substituted for a data capture time. We do not reconstruct unobserved launch history or connect missing periods in a way that implies continuous measurements.

This site’s first stored observation: . The player-count page shows up to the latest 20 successful observations. Complete trend views are not yet available.

Future sampled peaks require a stated observation window. A 24-hour peak will require at least 24 hours of coverage. A daily average will require at least 95% of expected samples and no long gap. UTC calendar days and rolling 24-hour windows are different; partial days must be identified.

What the data cannot tell you

Concurrent counts do not measure unique players, cohort retention, sales, revenue or profitability. Steam activity is not a total across every launcher. A decline in concurrency can have several causes; the count alone does not identify the cause.

External records and site observations keep separate source labels. If a cited source changes or a calculation is corrected, we will update the affected figure and its note. Estimated values are never presented as observed data.
